Despite losing four straight games from the end of February through the beginning of March, the Memphis Grizzlies are in the midst of a two-game winning streak. The Grizzlies own the No. 4 seed in the West and are just one game behind the No. 2 seed Los Angeles Lakers.
On Monday night, they will take on the Phoenix Suns, who have struggled for most of the season, in an attempt to keep their momentum going and extend their winning streak.
While the Grizzlies already ruled out key players like Jaren Jackson Jr., they also recently made an announcement regarding rookie guard Yuki Kawamura ahead of their game against the Suns.
In his rookie season, Kawamura has appeared in just 20 games for the Grizzlies and has spent most of his time in the G League. However, the Japanese native may have an opportunity to showcase his talents on the big stage once again as the Grizzlies have called him up and listed him as available.
Kawamura last appeared in an NBA game on February 12 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Furthermore, he has only appeared in five games since the turn of the calendar. It is unlikely he will assume a large role against the Suns, but it is still encouraging that he may have an opportunity regardless.
As the end of the season approaches, every game is important from here on out for the Grizzlies as they hope to enter the playoffs on a high note. They are already on a winning streak and will look to continue this trend on Monday night.
