Pelicans to play two preseason games in Australia this October

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The New Orleans Pelicans will travel Down Under this fall, playing two preseason games in Melbourne, Australia, the NBA announced Monday (March 10).

The Oct. 3 and Oct. 5 games in Melbourne mark the first NBA games in Australia. The Pelicans will play exhibition games against Melbourne United and South East Melbourne Phoenix, teams from Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL).

The announcement was made in Melbourne by Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin, NBL executive director and owner Larry Kestelman, and NBA Asia head of strategy Rajah Chaudhry.
