The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a frustrating loss to the rival Boston Celtics over the weekend and they will look to get back on track today. Los Angeles will be taking on the Brooklyn Nets as they continue their long road trip.
The Lakers will be without star forward LeBron James for this game as he suffered a significant groin injury against Boston. The team has also seen star guard Luka Doncic land on the injury report ahead of the game.

Doncic has been dealing with some back soreness of late so the team has been trying to manage it all. The star was listed as questionable entering the game and will play in this contest.
With James already missing this game, the Lakers need Doncic on the floor. His presence is paramount, especially with the team fighting for a playoff spot right now.
This game against the Nets will test the Lakers as they will also be without forwards Rui Hachimura and Dorian Finney-Smith. Los Angeles has had some injury issues pop up over the past few weeks but they are hopeful that they can come out the other side just fine.
Los Angeles currently sits in the No. 2 spot of the Western Conference standings so every game is magnified at this point in the year. If the Lakers can hold the fort down while James is out due to injury, things will be much easier for them.
The goal for the Lakers is to secure at least a top-four seed in the conference to gain home court for the first round of the playoffs. But the ultimate hope for the Lakers is to have both James and Doncic healthy for the postseason.
If the Lakers enter the playoffs healthy, they will be a true force to be dealt with in the West. This team is strong on the defensive end of the floor while also packing a punch on offense due to their two star players.
