Former Boston Celtics guard finally gets 2024 NBA championship ring

BOSTON — Svi Mykhailiuk watched the Celtics get their 2024 championship rings on Opening Night against the Knicks. But since he was no longer with the team and with the Jazz, he wasn’t able to get his hardware with the rest of his former teammates.

So, Mykhailiuk took to social media to joke that he wanted his ring shipped to him. Well, Mykhailiuk no longer had to wait as the former C’s guard and the Jazz were in town Monday for their lone trip to Boston this season. Pregame, Mykhailiuk finally got his ring in front of the TD Garden crowd surrounded by his former teammates.

Mykhailiuk said he saw pictures of the ring when the C’s got them, but he actually got to hold it Monday. Fortunately, he got to go through other parts of the title celebration, including the championship parade last June.

“A little blurry,” Mykhailiuk said pregame. “No, I’m joking. It was great. I feel like the parade is one of those experiences that not a lot of people get to — not a lot of players get to experience, and people, as well. It was definitely a blessing. I was fortunate to be a part of it and I wish everybody could experience it.”

Mykhailiuk signed with the Jazz last summer, one of the rare members of the 2024 roster to not return to Boston for this season. He’s averaging 9.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 26 games (12 starts) for them this season.

“I would say different, coming from being one of the youngest on the team last year to being one of the oldest on the team in a one-year span,” Mykhailiuk said. “So I’d say it’s a little bit different, but it’s very exciting. Obviously, I get to play with the young guys, teach them, give them my experience, what it’s been like, and what we have to do to get better and reach our full potential.”
