Steve Kerr Makes Announcement Updating Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga Return

The Golden State Warriors are hoping to settle in nicely with their latest homestand, which started with a grueling win over the Pistons on Saturday. The W pushed the Dubs to 11-2 in their last 13 games.

In that one, the Warriors managed to come away with a 115-110 win, despite shooting just 41.7% from the field and 29.3% from the 3-point line. Stephen Curry had 32 points, even after going just 8-for-22 from the field and 4-for-15 from the 3-point line. It was the first of seven straight home games for Golden State.

The Warriors have looked more and more like a contender in recent weeks, since joining up Curry with star forward Jimmy Butler, obtained from the Miami Heat in a deal at the NBA trade deadline. But the thing is, this is still far from a complete team.

The Warriors have been without forward Jonathan Kuminga since early January, as Kuminga has dealt with an ankle injury that is far more severe than expected.

The team is also missing Brandin Podziemski, but he was with the Warriors up until the end of the road trip that ended last week. He has a back injury that has now cost him two games.

Coach Steve Kerr provided an update on the two on Monday night before the Warriors played the Trail Blazers.

Steve Kerr said he's, "hopeful later this week at some point " both Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga could return. Warriors have two days off after tonight before playing Sacramento Thursday, Knicks Saturday and then Denver/Milwaukee next Monday/Tuesday.

John Dickinson of KNBR in San Francisco wrote on Twitter/X, "Steve Kerr said he's, 'hopeful later this week at some point' both Brandin Podziemski and Jonathan Kuminga could return. Warriors have two days off after tonight before playing Sacramento Thursday, Knicks Saturday and then Denver/Milwaukee next Monday/Tuesday."

The return of Podziemski would be welcome, but we know already what that looks like.

But Kuminga should give the Warriors a completely different look off the bench, where he has averaged 16.8 points and 5.0 rebounds this season. Golden State has been a very front-loaded team since the Butler deal, and Kuminga has thrived in a sixth-man's role this season.
