The San Francisco 49ers have been shedding salary this offseason, while gearing up to make Brock Purdy one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the sport.
Monday, as the NFL negotiating window officially opens ahead of free agency beginning, the 49ers released nine-time Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszcyk.
Juszcyk’s release was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Moving on from Juszczyk frees up approximately $2.93 million in cap space for the upcoming season.
San Francisco cutting ties with its veteran cornerback comes on the heels of trading wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders.
As things stand, the 49ers currently have upwards of $34.3 million in cap space for the upcoming season.
Juszczyk spent the past eight seasons with the 49ers, including as an instrumental piece of San Francisco’s run to the Super Bowl in 2023, after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Baltimore Ravens.
The 33-year-old Juszcyk has caught 67 passes for 237 yards and six touchdowns through the first 12 seasons of his career. Where Juszcyk plays his next game, remains to be seen.
