NFL Free Agency 2025: Seahawks fan favorite signs with NFC West rival

Good news: Poona Ford is returning to the NFC West.

Bad news: The Seattle Seahawks will be playing Poona Ford twice a year against the reigning divisional champions.

[The popular defensive tackle has agreed to a three-year deal](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/44194420/sources-poona-ford-rams-agree-3-year-deal-17m-guaranteed) worth nearly $30 million, including $17 million guaranteed. Ford spent last season with the Los Angeles Chargers, who ended the season with the NFL’s No. 1 scoring defense.

Ford spent five seasons with the Seahawks from 2018 to 2022, going from an undrafted prospect out of Texas to a key piece of Seattle’s interior defensive line. After scarcely playing with the Buffalo Bills, Ford went to the Chargers and tied his career highs with three sacks and nine quarterback hits, in addition to his first career interception.

The 29-year-old Ford joins an increasingly stacked Rams defensive line that includes second-year player Braden Fiske and third-year standout Kobie Turner. This isn’t even to ignore edge rusher Jared Verse, who won Defensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Kudos to Poona for securing a sizeable contract... we just wish it wasn’t with one of Seattle’s fierce rivals.
