On the first day of the legal tampering period, the Cleveland Browns were largely pretty quiet. The team wasn't expected to be overly active when it came to signing players and most of their targets remain available. To this point, the team has yet to agree to a contract with a player, instead making one trade and deciding to release veteran defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, designating him as a June 1st cut.

The trade the Browns made netted them quarterback Kenny Pickett from the Philadelphia Eagles for quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and the fifth-round selection they got in the trade for defensive end Za'Darius Smith.

The deal effectively gives the Browns a cheap veteran quarterback to compete for the backup role, likely with a rookie the team intends to draft. Part of the appeal with Pickett was his salary of slightly less than $2.7 million, which is fully guaranteed.

The Browns are still waiting on some elements to play out, but the team has been touching base with a number of ways to potentially improve the roster. Here's what the OBR has learned.
