Cisco is coming off a rough year, like many players from the Jaguars. However, prior to that he had been a solid presence at the back of Jacksonville’s defense primarily aligning deep.
The Jets entered this offseason with a single safety under contract so it was always likely a safety signing would be among the team’s first moves in free agency. I get the sense this is a reasonable gamble to take. Cisco turns 25 in a couple of weeks and has a track record of strong play. The worst season of his career, 2024, coincided with a team-wide struggle. As Jets fans we can relate to that when we look back on individual performances a year ago.
This seems like a very solid and logical move to me as we close our day one of free agency.
