Chinese Ambassador to Dominica Chu Maoming Attends the Exceptional Women Award

H.E. Chu Maoming, Chinese Ambassador to Dominica attended the Exceptional Women Award on March 7 and delivered a speech. The event was joined by over 200 people, including Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, President of Dominica, Hon. Dr. Irving McIntyre, Acting Prime Minister, Hon. Melissa Poponne-Skerrit, Minister for Housing and Urban Development and also wife of Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Cassandra Williams, Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services, with special responsibility for Seniors Security, Children at Risk, Gender Affairs and the Differently Abled, female diplomats from the Chinese Embassy and female representatives from the Chinese medical team, Chinese enterprises in Dominica and the Chinese community.

Ambassador Chu began by offering his heartfelt congratulations to all the awardees and extended his festive greetings to every woman present. He highlighted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action at the 4th World Conference on Women. Over the years, both China and Dominica have worked tirelessly to promote gender equality and women empowerment, and achieved remarkable progress. He expressed his sincere hope that women from both countries could continue to collaborate with each other, turning the spirit of the Declaration into tangible actions, and jointly advancing the cause of women worldwide.

After the speech, Ambassador Chu, along with Hon. Cassanni Laville, Minister of Health, Wellness and Social Services, presented the "Special Recognition Award", and took the opportunity to engage warmly and take photos with the awardees.
