On 7 March 2025, H.E.Ambassador LIU Jin, Minister of Health of The Gambia, Hon. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, and Country Representative of the UNPFA, Ms. Ndeye Rose Sarr, attended the ceremony of handing over the last batch of medical supplies for the Gambia's health project under the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund with the UNPFA.
Samateh expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for providing another batch of medical supplies. China has always been a reliable partner of the Gambia in the field of health care, and the Gambia is willing to learn from China's successful experience to improve the level of health care in the Gambia.
Sarr said she was grateful for the help that China provided to the Gambian people, especially women and children, during the epidemic and looked forward to more cooperation with China in the Gambia in the future.
LIU said China would not do what some country had done,but would continue to shoulder its international obligations. China has also never attached any political conditions to its assistance to the African friends. Health cooperationand exchange is one of the key areas of China-Gambia cooperation, and China will continue to help the Gambia enhance its health system and public health security and preparedness for the benefit of the Gambian people.
