Dwyane Wade Recalls Funny Moment During His Proposal to Gabrielle Union

Retired Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade opened up about his marriage to his wife Gabrielle Union and shared an unknown detail about his proposal to the actress.

During his appearance on "Today with Jenna & Friends" as a co-host on Monday, Wade spoke about their unconventional love story.

According to Wade, they began their relationship in an "opposite way" and skipped the lengthy hours at restaurants chatting to get to know each other.

"It felt like we were married first, and then we got to know each other," the NBA legend said. "Like, we just started the opposite way, I feel."

In 2010, the couple made their first public appearance at the Summer Groove charity event in Florida.

Although their relationship suffered a setback in 2013, they reconciled, which ultimately led Wade to propose to the "Bring It On" star.

The three-time NBA champion also shared an interesting story about the proposal. According to him, he was nervous and "shaking" at the time.

"I don't know if you can see it but I had a purple yoga block because I have multiple knee surgeries," the former NBA star recalled, adding "So I planned I was going to get on one knee but I was like ‘I can't put my knee on concrete. That's gonna hurt. Maybe our next game.'"

Moreover, Wade revealed that he had backup during the proposal, inviting his children from his previous marriage to make the moment even more special.

"I made sure my kids were part of it because I needed some help," he shared.
