Bills Sign ‘Chris Godwin Type’ Receiver

The Buffalo Bills didn't waste any time getting Josh Allen a new weapon with Los Angeles Chargers receiver Joshua Palmer coming to the AFC East.

After four years in L.A., Palmer signs a three-year, $36 million deal to become part of Joe Brady's offense after being productive during his time in the AFC West.

Palmer, in his last three seasons, has posted at least 580 yards and 38 recpetions, and will now bring that production to a Bills receiver room that needs someone other than Khalil Shakir to make moves in the passing game.

And it appears that the move has been well received, especially by ESPN's Dan Orlovsky, who sees a lot of talent in Palmer.

"Palmer's been a guy where you're sitting saying there's talent there," Orlovsky said on ESPN. "If you could just put it together and get that consistency, maybe from the scheme, quarterback play, that he can be a really good, I've likened him to a Chris Godwin type of player. He could be a really good number three receiver. I think it's a really nice signing by the Buffalo Bills."

Well, the quarterback play is going to get an upgrade from Justin Herbert to Allen, and Brady's "everybody eats" system served the offense well last year, with five players getting over 300 receiving yards and eight players getting multiple touchdowns.

Palmer will now likely slot in at WR3 behind Shakir and Coleman and will be able to stretch the defense downfield and give Allen a genuine home-run threat. Armed with good speed and elite hands, Palmer might just be one of the more underrated signings the Bills make this offseason.

Having made it to the AFC Championship game last season, Buffalo needed to make moves to get better, and with the signing of Palmer, they have.
