Suns’ Kevin Durant, Grizzlies’ Cam Spencer trade technical fouls following kerfuffle

Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant and Memphis Grizzlies guard Cam Spencer were assessed technical fouls after a kerfuffle in Monday’s game in Memphis.

After Spencer hit a 3-pointer toward the end of the third quarter to put the Grizzlies up five points, Spencer and Durant exchanged some words during a stoppage. Spencer initially started the dialogue, which led to Durant extended his leg in-between Spencer’s two own as Spencer was walking away. Spencer didn’t trip and then Durant stared talking, which led to Spencer’s teammate Desmond Bane approaching Durant.

After going face-to-face with each other, Durant then pushed Bane, which led to the players being separated.

After a review, Spencer and Durant were assessed technical fouls. Bane received no foul for his role in the scuffle.

Spencer would finish the game with 16 points off the bench while shooting 4-of-7 from 3-point range as the Grizzlies would get the victory over the Suns 120-118. Durant finished the game with 35 points, five rebounds and five assists, while shooting 7-of-9 from 3-point range.
