VIDEO: Enhancing composite tooling with additive manufacturing

At JEC World 2025, _CW_ editor-in-chief Scott Francis explored the latest advancements in composite tooling with [Massivit 3D Printing Technologies](/suppliers/massivit-3d) (Lod, Israel and Alpharetta, Ga., U.S.) and [Sika](/suppliers/sika-deutschland) (Bad Urach, Germany.)

Massivit’s 10,000G additive manufacturing (AM) machine, featuring its Cast In Motion technology, is advancing mold production by digitally printing only the necessary mold, reducing material waste. Unlike traditional methods, this approach enables the use of high-performance materials from Sika, including aluminum- and mineral-filled formulations designed for various temperature requirements, from room temperature to high-temperature aerospace applications.

Sika has partnered with Massivit to drive efficiency and sustainability in composite tooling. This collaboration enables manufacturers in industries such as automotive, aerospace, rail and sporting goods to produce high-quality molds with reduced waste and enhanced performance.

At JEC World, the companies showcased real-world applications, including automotive and defense components, sporting goods and even a fully 3D printed motorbike.
