'Close eye' - Chelsea tipped to launch raid for £75m-rated midfielder amid 'concerns' over 2023 …

Chelsea were previously linked to the Premier League midfielder in the January transfer window.

Chelsea look set to make a splash in the transfer window as they aim to build a title-winning team under Enzo Maresca.

The Blues boss hopes that his side will be able to claim a Champions League spot next season. They currently sit fourth in the league after a 1-0 win against Leicester City over the weekend.

However, midfielder Romeo Lavia missed the game as he was an unused substitute after returning from a hamstring injury this week. His fitness has reportedly become a concern for Chelsea.

Chelsea tipped to sign Man United star amid Lavia injury concerns

Chelsea were linked to Man United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo in January amid United’s need to sell ‘pure profit’ players due to concerns surrounding Profit and Sustainability Rules.

However, Mainoo stayed at Old Trafford and has since struggled with injury himself this year, but he remains a transfer target for the Blues. According to Caught Offside, Chelsea are preparing to step up their efforts to sign the midfielder amid their concerns about Lavia’s fitness. Mainoo plays in a defensive midfield role, and would likely come into Maresca’s side alongside one of Moises Caicedo or Enzo Fernandez.

The England international has made 18 Premier League appearances this season. He has two years remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford. The report says that United values Mainoo at around £75 million, and that they could be willing to sell him if the Blues were to come in with the right offer. He is currently negotiating a new deal at United, but if talks stall, he could become available in the summer.

The 20-year-old reportedly would prefer a move to Spain and Italy over a fellow Premier League club, but if Chelsea were to come in with the right offer for him, then they could land a deal.

Chelsea could sign Fulham star in defence

Mainoo isn’t the only Premier League player that has been linked over a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks. The Blues are reportedly interested in signing Fulham full-back Antonee Robinson, who has also attracted the attention of rivals Liverpool as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson. Reports last week suggested that Liverpool are prepared to offer around £29 million for Robinson, however, Fulham view his value at a figure closer to £40 million.

The 27-year-old has made 28 Premier League appearances this season, contributing 10 assists for the Cottagers. That makes him joint-second in assists in the Premier League alongside Mikel Damsgaard and Bukayo Saka.
