Warriors Readily Hold Off Blazers, 130-120

The Portland Trail Blazers found themselves outmatched against a rejuvenated Golden State Warriors squad Monday night, falling on the road 130-120.

Portland looked like a team playing the second night of a back-to-back on the road early, trailing by as much as 19 points in the first half as they battled with heavy legs. A third quarter comeback led by Deni Avdija and Anfernee Simons briefly closed the gap to as little as four, but the Blazers were never able to fully take control.

With the loss, Portland falls to 28-38 with 16 games remaining in the season.

**Blazer of the Night: Deni Avdija.** Deni looked fresh after sitting out last night with a quad contusion, finishing with a double-double, including a season-high 34 points and 16 rebounds to go along with 6 assists in 41 minutes. The Blazers offense didn’t have much going going for it, but Avdija putting his head down and becoming a one man excavation crew was gold in them proverbial hills all night. Great effort that’s a shame had to come in a loss.

**Stat of the Night: +4.** Despite trailing all night, Donovan Clingan was the only Blazer to finish with a positive +/- of +4. The rookie big man turned in one of his batter statistical performances of the season - 15 points, 9 boards, 6 assists and 4 blocks - and had an entertaining matchup with the similarly feisty Quinten Post.

**What We’ll Remember: Curry not reaching 4k**. Coming into the contest, Curry needed seven treys to reach the unworldly mark of 4,000 on his all-time resume - he did not reach it, despite 11 attempts, coming up just two shy. Not today!

**What’s Next: The final countdown.** The Blazers will return to the Moda Center to begin a seven-game homestand, starting with the New York Knicks Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Pacific.
