Former Ohio State Star Lands Lucrative Deal with Marquee NFC Team

The Ohio State Buckeyes have plenty of former stars playing in the NFL. One of those stars is none other than tight end Luke Farrell.

During his tenure at Ohio State, Farrell ended up playing four years with the program. He totaled 34 receptions for 380 yards and four touchdowns.

Farrell was a solid player with the Buckeyes, but those numbers clearly show that he wasn't a top-end NFL talent. He has carved out a solid professional career for himself.

At the NFL level, Farrell has played the first four years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In those four years, Farrell has totaled 36 catches for 318 yards. He has yet to score a touchdown.

Despite not having big-time NFL numbers, Farrell has created a name for himself. That led to him landing a lucrative contract in NFL free agency.

As reported by NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Farrell has landed a three-year deal worth over $20 million with the San Francisco 49ers.

Being able to get this kind of a deal with the 49ers shows that hard work pays off. Farrell may not be the big number tight end, but he's a great blocker and he does all the dirty work.

Now, he will head off to San Francisco to team up with George Kittle at the tight end position. Kittle will be the elite receiving tight end, while Farrell will do the rest.

This is a big step for him and Ohio State fans could not be happier.
