SINGAPORE - Two people were trapped in a lorry after a four-vehicle accident along the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on March 10.
They were later rescued by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and taken to hospital.
SCDF and the police said they were alerted to the accident involving one car and three lorries along the PIE towards Changi, near Toh Guan flyover, at around 3pm.
Officers found two people trapped in the front seats of a lorry, and freed them using hydraulic rescue equipment, said SCDF.
Three people – a 24-year-old lorry driver and his two male passengers, aged 32 and 59 – were taken conscious to National University Hospital, said SCDF and the police.
Police investigations are ongoing.
A video of the aftermath of the accident, posted to the Singapore Roads Accident Facebook page, shows three stationary lorries bumper to bumper in the leftmost lane of the expressway.
Significant damage can be seen on the front of the lorry in the middle. A fire extinguisher can be seen on the road just ahead of the lorry, and a whitish substance can be seen beneath the vehicle.
A hatchback with no visible damage is seen further up from the three vehicles, though it is unclear if it was involved in the accident.
