Liverpool are prepared to meet Bournemouth’s lofty asking price for Milos Kerkez as they plan to sign the left-back in the summer transfer window.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 21-year-old is the “perfect fit” for Arne Slot’s side.

The Cherries are expected to demand £40million to let him leave the club, but that is not expected to deter the interest in his signature.

This comes amid concerns about the long-term role of Andy Robertson in the side as a result of his performances since the manager’s arrival.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 7 March that Liverpool’s move for Kerkez is “progressing well” as Dominik Szoboszlai has played a key role in talks.

The Bournemouth star has established himself as one of the best left-backs in the league, having started all 28 of their Premier League games so far this season.

Liverpool ready £40million move to sign Milos Kerkez

Brown told Football Insider as early as December that Kerkez had emerged as Liverpool’s top target at left-back thanks to his performances for Bournemouth.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that the £40million asking price is seen as achievable for the Reds.

“*They’ve decided Kerkez is the one they want,*” he told Football Insider.

“It looks like Robertson isn’t thought of as a long-term option there any more, they tend to take him off after around an hour most weeks.

“So they are now targeting somebody who can play 90 minutes week in week out.

“Kerkez has done very well at Bournemouth this season, and he looks like the perfect fit.

“He’s aggressive in and out of possession, he’s quick, not afraid to get forward, and has a good cross on him as we saw against Tottenham.

“For £40million, I don’t see where they go to get a better player than him for a lower price.

“Liverpool are prepared to meet that asking price, and I think there’s a very strong possibility that this deal gets done.”

Arne Slot targets Marc Guehi as centre-back priority emerges

Alongside the addition of a new left-back, a centre-back has also become a priority for Liverpool as they look set to strengthen the position in the summer window.

Football Insider revealed on 4 February that Liverpool and Arsenal want to sign Marc Guehi this summer as he is widely expected to leave Crystal Palace.

Now, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has told Football Insider that Liverpool are leading the race for Guehi ahead of the likes of Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The 24-year-old England international will have just 12 months remaining on his deal at Selhurst Park come the summer and Palace are expected to be open to offers for him.
