West Ham are readying an offer for Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters, according to the club’s former senior scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected within the game, exclusively told Football Insider that the 27-year-old is a key target for the Hammers given his availability.
Graham Potter is keen to strengthen this squad this summer, and the addition of a new full-back has been a long-term target at the London Stadium.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Southampton are prepared for an exodus of players this summer as a result of their impending relegation.
The likes of Tyler Dibling and Aaron Ramsdale have been heavily linked with moves, but Walker-Peters looks set to be the first out the door upon the expiry of his deal.
West Ham are now prepared to capitalise on his situation, with just months remaining on his contract which is set to run out in June.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 6 February that West Ham want to sign a new left-back – and Walker-Peters’ ability to play across the defence is seen as a valuable asset.

West Ham lead race to sign Kyle Walker-Peters
Brown told Football Insider in January that Kyle Walker-Peters is wanted by multiple clubs in the Premier League and the full-back will sound out offers before making a decision.
The former scout who worked at the London Stadium until last June and has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment, has insisted that West Ham are currently leading the race for his signature and are prepared to make an offer.
“West Ham are interested in Kyle Walker-Peters,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s been one of Southampton’s better players, and he wants to stay in the Premier League.
“So I believe West Ham are prepared to offer him a deal when his contract runs out.
“He’s a right-back where they’ve got Wan-Bissaka, who I think has been their best player this season, he’s done very, very well since his move from Man United.
“But Walker-Peters is capable of playing at left-back, too, which is always a valuable asset.
“Given his availability on a free, I expect West Ham to make a move for him, and I think he’s a good player who would improve Graham Potter’s squad.”

Southampton name Taylor Harwood-Bellis asking price
Alongside the deal to sign Walker-Peters, West Ham are prepared to swoop for a second Southampton star Taylor Harwood-Bellis in a bid to improve their back line.
The 23-year-old is expected to become available this summer as Harwood-Bellis wants to stay in the Premier League rather than dropping down to the Championship.
As a result, Football Insider revealed on 6 March that Southampton will demand £20million for Harwood-Bellis as they look to recoup the money spent on him in 2024.
West Ham and Crystal Palace are among the clubs believed to be weighing up approaches for the one cap, one goal England international.
