MANILA -- Philippine ex-leader Rodrigo Duterte was arrested in Manila on Tuesday, as police acted on a warrant requested by the International Criminal Court despite the nation's departure from the organization in 2019 during the administration of the former president.
The step comes amid an [escalating feud](https://asia.nikkei.com/Politics/Philippines-Marcos-Duterte-conflict-worsens-5-things-to-know) between the families of Duterte and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and ahead of midterm elections in May.
