Villa News Speaking to Bryan King
Tue 11 March 2025 7:40, UK
Marcus Rashford will be keen to start when Aston Villa host Club Brugge on Wednesday.
The Manchester United loanee started the match as Unai Emery’s side recorded a 3-1 victory over Club Brugge in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Tuesday (4 March).
However, Rashford was benched for the 1-0 Premier League win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday (8 March).
As a result, Emery has a decision to make for the second leg against Club Brugge at Villa Park on 12 March, with Rashford mooted to cause “trouble” in the West Midlands.

Rashford could cause problems for Club Brugge
Rashford is expected to start for Villa as Emery makes two changes on Wednesday.
And ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – thinks the English forward will cause problems for Club Brugge.
MORE VILLA STORIES
“Villa are through,” King said.
“There is no chance that they lose that game. They’ll beat them, they’re too strong for Club Brugge. I would play Rashford.
“The one thing that Brugge will have trouble with is pace, and Rashford has pace. Therefore, he will cause them trouble. If Villa score early in this game, they’ll win the match by two or three goals. Villa have been doing really well in Europe this year.”

Rashford is yet to score for Aston Villa
However, based on the profile and the excitement around the 27-year-old’s arrival in the West Midlands, he will be keen to do much more.
Therefore, Rashford will hope to start against Club Brugge, as helping Villa advance in the Champions League would go a long way in repaying the faith the club placed in him by signing him in the winter transfer window.
