Harvey Elliott reveals Mohamed Salah guidance at Liverpool

Speaking to Amazon Prime, Elliott revealed how Mohamed Salah quickly took the youngster under his wing at Liverpool, with the midfielder in awe that a legend as big as the Egyptian international wanted to become a mentor for the Surrey-born talent so soon after arriving.

Elliott said: “He’s done everything, I was kinda surprised to be honest given the greatness of who he is and what he’s achieved in football. I was a bit nervous at the start because you don’t know how these big players are going to react and it was the first time I was surrounded by superstars.

“At Fulham I had Andre Schurrle and Ryan Babel, and those guys are the same as what Mo was, they can see how hard it is for youngsters to come in and establish themselves in the first-team, so he was giving me pointers on what to do and teaching me the philosophy on how we play.

“Even to this day, me and him have a really close connection and it’s morphed into a friendship with him trying to help me out, the way he’s put me on the path to where I am today is just amazing.”

Could Harvey Elliott leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window?

Despite etching his way into Liverpool folklore with his winning goal against PSG, Elliott’s future at Anfield isn’t as secure as many initially think, with the odds of the midfielder leaving in the summer somewhat high.

Liverpool will not block Elliott from leaving in the transfer window with the 21-year-old frustrated with the lack of playing time under Arne Slot, with the Dutch manager more conservative with the midfielder’s minutes than Jurgen Klopp.

Indeed, Elliott leaving Liverpool at this stage in his career would feel like a kick in the teeth for supporters, who know that the former Fulham academy star still has a lot to give and who could still develop into a world-class player for the Reds.
