Liverpool have five players at risk of UEFA punishment vs PSG tonight

Liverpool will be missing three players for their Champions League round-of-16 second leg at home against Paris Saint-Germain - and have another five at risk of suspension for the next round, should they win tonight. The Reds were given a boost with the return of Cody Gakpo to open training on Monday, strengthening Arne Slot's team. However, they are still without three long-term absentees. Conor Bradley is still out with a hamstring injury, while both Joe Gomez and Tyler Morton face extended periods out after undergoing surgery on hamstring and shoulder injuries respectively.

Despite having no new injuries ahead of their second leg with PSG, Liverpool have several players at risk of suspension. Captain Virgil van Dijk received a yellow card at the Parc des Princes and is now just one booking away from a one-game ban. Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott had all already been booked twice in this year's Champions League before the trip to Paris.

Although they managed to avoid further bookings last week, they remain on a disciplinary tightrope and are also one yellow card away from a one-game suspension. Alexis Mac Allister, who has already served a one-game ban in the league phase, is also at risk of an additional ban. The Argentina international has been booked four times so far in this season's competition.

Players receive a one-game suspension after accumulating three yellow cards that did not result in a red card, as well as after any subsequent odd-numbered caution.

With yellow cards not being wiped until the quarter-finals are over, five players have a trio of matches to navigate without incurring a ban. However, should any of them receive a booking in Tuesday's clash with PSG, they will be ruled out of the first leg of the quarter-final against either Club Brugge or Aston Villa, provided Liverpool advance to the next round.

Ryan Gravenberch, Luis Diaz, Kostas Tsimikas and Darwin Nunez have all been shown the yellow card once in this season's Champions League, meaning a further two bookings before the quarter-finals conclude would result in a suspension.
