“Like a movie”–Player’s brother predicted Manchester United approach, mother thrilled

Patrick Dorgu arrived at Manchester United from US Lecce in the winter market and made five appearances for his new club so far.

The Denmark international is currently serving a domestic suspension for his sending off against Ipswich Town last month.

[BT](https://www.bt.dk/fodbold/familien-dorgu-besoeger-bt-manchester-united-skiftet-er-guds-vaerk) in Denmark sat down for a chat with Dorgu’s family to get their views on his move to Manchester United.

Napoli showed keen interest in the 20-year-old prior to his move to Old Trafford. BT state his uncle, Kingsley Ogbodo, who now lives in Manchester, is Dorgu’s agent. He kept the family updated about the developments of the operation with Manchester United.

The family were aware of the reports linking Patrick with a move to Manchester United. The report states they didn’t ‘believe at all’ initially until things started getting serious.

His mother, Clara, has expressed her delight over the player’s transfer to the Premier League club.

_“For the previous three weeks it was everywhere in the media. That Patrick was moving to United or Napoli. At first, we just thought it was something the media wrote, but as time went on, it started to become real,”_ she said.

_“Then it all came together like in a movie. It was a big milestone in our lives to see such success and the transformation from Lecce to Manchester United. We are very happy and proud of him. It was very touching. To see your son, 20 years old. It was so big.”_

In the past, Patrick had publicly stated he supported Chelsea while growing up. BT pointed it out and added that his brother, Gabriel, is a Manchester United fan.

Last summer, Gabriel predicted the Red Devils would make an approach for his brother due to injury concerns to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. He encouraged Patrick to perform well for Lecce in order to secure a move to Old Trafford.

_“I said it a long time before it was even written in the media,”_ Gabriel explained.

_“In the summer, I told him that United could come and ask about him in January because they don’t have that many fullbacks._

_“I told him that he should play well for six months, because then there would be a greater chance that United would look his way. Coincidentally, it happened.”_

BT explain the left wing-back didn’t have any doubts about accepting Manchester United’s offer. They also point out his family used the words “dream” and “fulfilment” several times during the interview, as an example of how happy they all are.
