EUPOL COPPS co-hosted with EUBAM Rafah an EU delegation of strategic planners who conducted consultations on the renewal of the mandates of EUPOL COPPS and EUBAM Rafah Missions that will expire in June this year. The meetings were held between 24-28 February both with Palestinian, Israeli and international counterparts. The delegation came to evaluate the implementation and assess the relevance of the mandates of EUBAM Rafah and EUPOL COPPS and sound partners’ views on the cooperation with the missions and possible adjustment or development of the mandates. The counterparts, such as the Palestinian ministers of interior and justice, praised the work of the missions and stressed the need to maintain their presence, especially following the redeployment of EUBAM Rafah personnel to monitor the Rafah crossing point between Gaza and Egypt.
