SES on why it’s investing in D2D startup Lynk Global, and the status of its mPower constellation

WASHINGTON — Satellite fleet operator **SES** outlined its partnership and investment with startup D2D provider **Lynk Global** and updated the status of its power-challenged O3b mPower medium-Earth-orbit (MEO) constellation.

In March 10 remarks here at the **Satellite 2025** conference, organized by **Access Intelligence**, SES Chief Executive Adel Al-Saleh did not offer the usual reasoning for believing in D2D, which is that there’s a fortune to be made in providing bandwidth to people outside cellular coverage.
