Chelsea are have recently been looking to Manchester United in the hopes of bolstering their squad in the summer.
The Blues are already tied into signing Jadon Sancho as a loan-to-buy deal, which was agreed upon on deadline day last summer, with a £20 million buy clause built into the loan deal.
However, Enzo Maresca is now looking at bringing another Red Devil with him in the form of Kobbie Mainoo.
For some time now, it’s been suggested that United would be open to selling homegrown stars Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho to generate pure profit, easing the financial pressures they’re facing.
The extent of the financial pressures has finally been revealed with Sir Jim Ratcliffe now claiming that the club would have gone bust by Christmas without the cost-cutting measures that he and his INEOS team have implemented.
However, throughout his interviews, he has remained firm on one point, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are not for sale.
Speaking about the United duo who broke through to the senior team last season under Erik ten Hag, even gaining Golden Boy award nominations, Ratcliffe explained they weren’t going anywhere.
In his interview with the BBC, the INEOS owner explained: “No no. We won’t be selling players because of the state we are in financially.”
These comments were in direct response to the concept of the pair of graduates being up for sale, which was instantly shot down by Ratcliffe.
