Dorian Finney-Smith injury update: Positive signs for Lakers forward

Dorian Finney-Smith is day-to-day with left ankle soreness, but there are no major concerns about his recovery, and he is expected to potentially return by Thursday vs. the Milwaukee Bucks.

Los Angeles Lakers forward Dorian Finney-Smith missed the game against his former team, the Brooklyn Nets, on Monday, where the Lakers suffered their second consecutive loss.

Finney-Smith is dealing with an ankle injury, but according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, there are no major concerns about his recovery.

"DFS is day to day," Buha said on his podcast. "With him, JJ [Redick] did clarify that it wasn't a new injury. It's that left ankle soreness that he had actually dating back to Brooklyn, and they've continued. It's the reason he missed the Utah game, right before the [All-Star] break.

"I also would assume that, based on the way JJ talked about DFS's injury, he'll probably be back by Thursday," Buha added. "We'll see with that."

The LA Lakers have a challenging back-to-back schedule coming up, facing the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets on Thursday and Friday.

Buha also shared updates on other players: LeBron James tends to be out for two weeks instead of one, Rui Hachimura will be reevaluated at the end of the week, and Jaxson Hayes is currently day to day.

As of now, the Lakers sit at the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference with a 40-23 record. Since joining the team, Finney-Smith has averaged 6.7 points and 3.6 rebounds in 27 games, including 11 starts.
