Nottingham Forest have been praised for finding and developing Murillo, a player on whom they will one day make a huge transfer profit.
When that day comes no-one yet knows, the Brazilian has committed his future to the City Ground by signing a new contract and is on course to play Champions League football with the Reds.
Indeed his form has been a key part in helping Forest mount a challenge for Europe’s most illustrious competition, with the weekend victory over Manchester City underlining their credentials.
It has also had the pundits queueing up to laud their work, with South American football expert Tim Vickery hailing the fact the Reds found him in the first place.
“This is a magnificent piece of scouting, an unbelievably brilliant piece of scouting,” Vickery told the Monday Night Club
“He didn't force his way into the Corinthians side through magnificent performances in the reserves or something, he got his opportunity through the sale of another player.
“You might remember the big Paraguayan centre back, [Fabian] Balbuena, who was in his second spell with Corinthians and it was only when Balbuena was sold that opportunity was open for Murillo.
“Then it was 25 games and out. He's already played more than twice as many games for Forest as he has for Corinthians.
“They did have a couple of cup runs, which maybe put him under the under the spotlight a little bit, but there was far more hype about another left-footed centre back from across town at Sao Paulo called Lucas Beraldo, who's since gone on to to Paris Saint-Germain.
“But there was there was no doubt in my mind that Murillo is by far the better of the two. PSG have already bought in the big Ecuadorian Willian Pacho as an upgrade on Beraldo, while Murillo just goes from strength to strength.
“So it's a fantastic piece of scouting to be aware of this player. Forest must have had him on their radar screen after probably ten first team performances and what a bargain they got and what a profit they're going to make.”
