Wow: “Unstoppable” 27-goal superstar “has a preference” for Liverpool this summer – report

Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres reportedly “has a preference” to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window, as well as two of their rivals.

It wasn’t too long ago that Gyokeres was playing in the Championship with Coventry City, but he has since become one of the most talked-about attacking players in Europe.

The 26-year-old is enjoying another superb season for Sporting, scoring 27 goals in just 22 starts in the Primeira Liga, as well as netting six times in the Champions League.

It could be that Gyokeres decides to move on this summer, however, feeling that a fresh challenge is needed at this point in his career.

Sport Witness], the Sweden international “has a preference” for Liverpool at the end of the season, along with Manchester City and Arsenal.

Encouragingly, Sporting appear to be willing to cash in on Gyokeres, demanding £59m for his signature, even though he has an £84.3m release clause.

A sensational option for Liverpool

It would be a surprise if Arne Slot didn’t target a new striker this summer, with doubts persisting over three current Liverpool players, despite their obvious quality.

Luis Diaz hasn’t always shone in a central role this season and Diogo Jota cannot stay fit for long periods during a season, while the jury is still out Darwin Nunez, even though he is in his third season at Anfield.

In Gyokeres, Liverpool could have a perfect option to bring in, with the Swede scoring 82 goals in just 90 appearances for Sporting, as well as being hailed by Jake Bidwell, who has said of him:

“With the way he plays as well, with his aggression, the two (qualities) go hand in hand with how well he has done. He all of a sudden realised how quick and strong he was and had the confidence to use it and mixed with the aggression, it’s made him pretty unstoppable.”

The threat of Arsenal is clear, as they desperately search for a top striker – City already have Erling Haaland, so a move there feels unlikely – but Gyokeres will surely see Liverpool as a hugely exciting option.
