“I think sometimes the fans go a little hard on me,” he said, laughing as he spoke.
“But I know they love me. I love them as well. Everything I do, I do my best for the club. I am here because I love the club and I want to be part of the club’s history.”
Bruno can make Newcastle United vow come true on Sunday
The 27-year-old has joked that Toon fans can be hard on him, amid a period in which Bruno has not been at his best.
Bruno looked tired against Liverpool, resulting in supporters calling for him to be rested. Fatigue looked like an issue, as Newcastle limped towards the Carabao Cup final.
But now the Magpies have a spring in their step. The win over West Ham will have given Eddie Howe’s side a huge confidence boost, as they prepare to compete at Wembley on Sunday.
Following an inspirational display at the London Stadium, Newcastle need to see more of the same from Bruno against Liverpool.
He wants to be part of Newcastle’s history, and he has the chance to be that this weekend. He will lead Newcastle United out at Wembley, captaining the Magpies as they aim to end their lengthy trophy drought.
Bruno is already idolised on Tyneside, but he will cement his legendary status if he brings silverware back to St James’ Park.
If he does just that, Newcastle United fans will love him more than ever.
