Alexander Kačaniklić has told Tuesday’s edition of Sportbladet that he enjoyed his time at Fulham, with it the highlight of his career.
Earlier this month, the 33-year-old ended his playing career and has been speaking to the newspaper to review everything.
Fulham initially signed the Swede for their youth team from Liverpool in 2010 and then promoted him to their first team in 2012.
The winger made 100 appearances for Fulham, scoring 11 goals and registering five assists in the process. During his time at the English club, they sent him out on loan to Watford, Burnley and FC Copenhagen.
Kačaniklić claims the time he spent at Fulham and representing his country have been the best time of his career.
The newspaper points out the Swede had his best time at the London club. Responding to that, he said: “That’s the highlight for sure, along with having represented Sweden.
“It was great to play in the Premier League, score some goals and compete with some of the world’s best players and clubs. It’s nice to sit and think back on it now.”
Fulham released him at the end of the 2015/16 season and the former attacker ended up joining FC Nantes on a free transfer. Kačaniklić then had spells at Hammarby IF, Hajduk Split and AEL Limassol before retirement.
When asked if there’s anything he regrets, Kačaniklić said he would have preferred to stay in England for longer.
“Regret is probably the wrong word, but now that I’m a little older I probably would have done something differently. I probably would have continued in England and the Premier League a little longer, because I had the chance,” Kačaniklić explained.
“But I chose to move to get something new, that’s something I can regret today.”
