Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is looking to come out of retirement and step onto the pitch once more.

Rooney recently joined the Manchester United legends as they took on Celtic legends back in September.

The former striker rolled back the years, scoring a tremendous freekick to grab a goal for United as the game ended 1-1 with Celtic winning on penalties.

However, now Rooney is pulling on his boots once more, ready to represent England in the upcoming Soccer Aid 2025.

The former United man has been reported by BBC as joining England’s manager Harry Redknapp as co-manager alongside Tyson Fury.

Not only taking on the role of co-manager, Rooney will be taking to the pitch to play for the England side as the event takes to Old Trafford once more.

Speaking of joining the England team once again, especially alongside Fury, Rooney commented: “I’m a big boxing fan, so to do it alongside Tyson Fury is fantastic. We have this in common – we’ll both be taking it incredibly seriously.

“It’s great to lace up the old boots again – and see some old friends.”

Just as excited for the partnership, Fury commented: “The prospect of leading my England team to victory this June fills me with just as much excitement as any heavyweight fight.”

He continued: “Everyone knows that I am a huge Manchester United fan too, so it’s even more special for me that the game is at Old Trafford this year, and I get to manage one of my heroes, Wayne Rooney.”

Already it’s known that Rooney will be reuniting with former teammates Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, whilst some other England greats are set to get their Soccer Aid debuts in the form of Joe Hart, Steph Houghton and Toni Duggan.

Also donning the England shirt, the legends will be accompanied by celebrities Louis Tomlinson, Sam Quek, Paddy McGuinness, Tom Grennan and Sir Mo Farah, with the rest of the lineup yet to be confirmed.
