Wolves still don’t know what division they’ll be in next season, yet Vitor Pereira is already planning for the summer transfer window.
Wolves clinched a 1-1 draw against Everton on Saturday night, extending their buffer on the bottom three to six points, with Southampton up next.
Joe Cole thinks Wolves will survive, suggesting they have enough in their locker to avoid relegation, while Ipswich Town and Leicester City look dead and buried.
As this is the case, it’s no surprise that planning has begun for the 2025/26 campaign. Wolves have been linked with Everton’s Michael Keane on a free transfer, while fellow defender Koni De Winter is still on Pereira’s radar.
Interestingly, it isn’t just in defence where Pereira is looking to improve, as Wolves are interested in Tammy Abraham, and Jose Mourinho has previously endorsed the striker.

Jose Mourinho’s praise for Tammy Abraham
Mourinho is one of the best managers of all time and he worked under Abraham during their time together at Roma.
The former Chelsea striker was convinced to join the Portuguese tactician in Serie A, sealing a £34 million transfer from the Blues in August 2021.
It was during 2021/22 when Abraham had his best scoring season of his career, netting an impressive 27 goals in all competitions, including nine in the Europa Conference League.

Roma ended up winning the inaugural competition, beating Feyenoord 1-0 in the final and Mourinho was full of praise for what the striker did under his tutelage.
Speaking in August 2022, via BBC Sport, Mourinho said of the striker: “He played how I wanted him too. He won everything, he kept the ball, he provided an outlet, he won the first ball and he gave us an option in behind to push them back.
“We always talk about strikers when they score and obviously tonight was Paulo’s night, but Tammy was amazing.”
Abraham is a potential upgrade on Jorgen Strand Larsen
Since winning the Europa Conference League at Roma, Abraham has experienced a downward spiral, only finding the net 19 times in nearly three years.
The 27-year-old joined AC Milan on loan in August 2024, and his struggles have continued with just four goals scored in the Serie A and Champions League.
But while he’s lost his way recently, a transfer to Wolves could see him emerge as an upgrade on current centre-forward Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Despite scoring seven goals on his debut campaign in the Premier League, Strand Larsen has been criticised for his hold-up play, often failing to win aerial duels and beat defenders physically while bringing his teammates into play.

Games 421 265
Goals 170 66

As demonstrated by Mourinho’s comments, Abraham’s biggest strengths are providing an outlet for his team, winning the first ball and using possession well.
This is exactly what Pereira wants from his striker. Strand Larsen isn’t currently delivering that, whereas Abraham could be the answer to that problem.
