Everton are reportedly in advanced talks to appoint former West Ham United chief Rob Newman as their new head of recruitment.
Everton are set for major changes next season as they enter a new era under The Friedkin Group. Not only will they look to sign some big-name stars, but they will also make significant changes to their management.
According to a report from Football Insider, the Toffees are close to appointing Rob Newman as their new head of recruitment. They are in advanced talks with the former West Ham United director as they look to reunite him with David Moyes.
After working as a scout at Manchester City for over a decade, Newman took charge as the Hammers’ director of professional football and scouting towards the end of 2021. During his time at the East London club, he played a massive role in the majority of their big-money signings. Lucas Paqueta was one of his prominent signings during his time at the club.
He worked closely with Moyes during their time together. Both ended up parting ways with the club at the end of the 2023/24 season. While the Scottish manager took over at Everton at the start of the year, Newman has been on the lookout for his next role in English football.
Newman to reunite with Moyes at Everton?
Rob Newman could also be heading to the Merseyside club as they look to shake up their recruitment team before heading into the Bramley-Moor Docks stadium. The Friedkin Group, who completed the purchase of Everton towards the end of 2024, want to ensure they have the best people in charge to take the club forward.
With Kevin Thelwell leaving, they are looking for an ideal replacement, with recent reports linking them with David Weir. Meanwhile, Leeds United’s Angus Kinnear will be taking charge as their new CEO ahead of next season.
They are seeking an experienced figure in English football to lead their recruitment team. Having closely followed Newman’s work, they are confident he is the ideal fit for their team. Talks are already at an advanced stage, and they are closing in on appointing him as their new head of recruitment.
