Kalvin Phillips has been linked with a return to Leeds United in the summer and fans seem to be divided on the prospect of the former White walking back to Elland Road. Daniel Farke and his players are very much focused on earning automatic promotion to the Premier League but the rumours surrounding a potential Phillips return have taken hold of the fanbase. Some fans are dead against the player returning while others are open to welcoming back a boyhood Leeds fan. While the fanbase remains divided, the story has picked up more pace and it seems that the club are getting close to signing the midfielder in the next transfer window.
The midfielder has struggled to replicate his form at Leeds since leaving Elland Road and he has struggled in the last three years away from West Yorkshire.

Pep Guardiola’s fitness demands were seemingly too much for him at Manchester City and he left the Etihad to join Ipswich Town on loan in the last summer transfer window.
However, with Ipswich expected to get relegated from the Premier League and Manchester City not keen to have him back, the Leeds academy product needs a new club in the summer.
Leeds have been keeping tabs on his performances and are weighing up the prospect of signing Kalvin Phillips in the summer transfer window if they get promoted to the Premier League.
However, it has been claimed that the interest is more than just curiosity from Leeds and the club have actually made progress in their effort to secure a deal to sign the player ahead of the next transfer window.
Verbal agreement is in place between Kalvin Phillips and Leeds
Phillips is keen to return to his boyhood club in the summer transfer window and it seems talks have progressed between the player and the Yorkshire giants.
It has been claimed Leeds have been trying to sign him for more than 12 months now and a deal was in place for him to return to the club last summer.
The midfielder was at Wembley for the playoff final but the move was abandoned once Leeds lost to Southampton and were confirmed to spend at least one more season in the Championship.
Leeds are again moving on trying to sign Phillips and according to TEAMTalk, a verbal agreement is in place for him to return to Elland Road in the summer.
The move is still dependent on Leeds getting promoted but the road is clear for the England international to return to his boyhood club if Leeds are in the Premier League next season.
Manchester City are prepared to sell him and are open to sanctioning his transfer for a fee of £20m in the next summer transfer window.
Phillips would have to agree to take a pay cut as Leeds are not in a position to meet his current salary, but that is unlikely to be a problem since he wants to return to Elland Road.
Will the Leeds supporters welcome him back?
It appeared that the midfielder left Leeds in 2022 with the best wishes of the fans as it would have been crazy to reject an offer to play for Manchester City.
However, since it emerged earlier today that a return could be on the cards, the fans have been divided over the prospect of him moving back to Leeds.
Leeds supporters have not been impressed with what he has done since leaving and many feel he is not keen to return to Elland Road out of love for the club, but it could be his only option in the summer given his performances in recent seasons.

The Whites fans also feel Marcelo Bielsa is the only manager who got the best out of him and the midfielder was poor in his last season at Leeds.
It is clear that Leeds fans are not seeing this as a great return of a boyhood fan but as a player who is keen to go back to a place where he previously succeeded after failing in the last three years.
Leeds still need to get promoted to the Premier League for the transfer to happen but the fans are not unanimously in favour of the move at the moment.
