Despite lauded as 'special' by Arne Slot - Liverpool man looks to be joining Diogo Jota in heading for Anfield exit…

This summer looks set to be a busy one at Liverpool.

Arne Slot’s first season at Anfield has gone beyond expectations and the Dutch coach will hope to continue his success next season by adding new members to his squad.

The previous two transfer windows have been very quiet for the Merseyside club with Federico Chiesa being the only Liverpool signing added to the Dutch coach’s squad for the current campaign.

In hindsight, this has worked out for Liverpool as it has allowed Slot to evaluate his squad fully, while also saving money for the Reds to spend ahead of the 25/26 campaign.

Money will also be raised through player sales and Slot is already planning the potential departures of several stars.

Diogo Jota and Wataru Endo on Liverpool’s transfer list

One of the biggest reasons for Slot’s success at Liverpool is the Dutch coach figured out his best 11 quickly at Anfield.

The former Feyenoord boss has stuck to this for the majority of the campaign, which has left several stars wondering about their futures at Anfield.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool could part ways with Caoimhin Kelleher, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, and Diogo Jota this summer as Slot prepares to bring new stars to Merseyside.

Elliott has been frustrated at Liverpool this season and although Slot has labelled Wataru Endo as “special” in recent weeks, the Reds boss has not fully trusted the Japanese star throughout the campaign.

Endo has stepped up whenever he has been called upon and although Slot is a fan of the 32-year-old, the midfielder will want more minutes, which he will not get at Liverpool next season.

Both look to be heading towards the Anfield exit door and one man who could join them is Jota as the Portuguese star has admitted to having a “difficult season” on Merseyside.

Liverpool should consider parting ways with Diogo Jota

Jota is arguably the best finisher at Liverpool and if the forward could keep fit, the 28-year-old would have a big part to play at Anfield going forward.

However, the Portuguese star continues to struggle with his fitness and with a contract expiring in 2027, the Premier League leaders may look to move on from the former Wolves star.

How Diogo Jota compares to Liverpool’s other forwards

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s match with PSG on Tuesday, Jota opened up on his struggles this season, admitting it has been a difficult season for the forward.

“It’s been a difficult season for me,” Jota told the press via Liverpool.com. “I had a few complications throughout the season.

“Obviously these last couple of months are the ones that matter the most, where you decide things. I don’t feel I’m on my best form at the moment but certainly by playing I will get there. And I always try to do my best, no matter what.”

The question needs to be asked if the 28-year-old will ever rediscover the best version of himself and with Darwin Nunez likely to leave Liverpool this summer, Jota may join him.
