Manchester United’s midfield is set for major changes, with Christian Eriksen’s contract expiring and Casemiro’s future uncertain.
With both players likely to leave, United are actively seeking replacements and have identified a promising talent to strengthen the centre of the pitch.
The young midfielder, Adam Wharton, has been a revelation since his move to Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers in the winter transfer window of 2024.
Despite eyebrows being raised when Palace paid £18 million for him, Adam Wharton has quickly established himself as a key player for the Eagles, impressing with his performances in the second half of last season.
A groin problem affected him for much of the first half of the current campaign, but since his return, he has been consistent and has caught the eye of former Manchester City star and BBC Sport pundit Micah Richards, who described him as “exceptional” after Palace’s win against Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
Wharton’s potential and form have not gone unnoticed by top clubs, with sources saying that Manchester United are particularly interested, as per TEAMtalk.

The Red Devils have added Wharton to their list of targets for the summer transfer window, as they look to reinforce their midfield.
United’s need for reinforcements comes as Eriksen is set to leave Old Trafford as a free agent and Casemiro’s exit is on the horizon.
However, United will face stiff competition for Wharton’s signature.
Newcastle United are looking at him as a potential replacement for Bruno Guimaraes, should the Brazilian leave, while Bayern Munich and Juventus are also keen on the 21-year-old.
Despite some initial interest from Tottenham, sources suggest Spurs are not currently pursuing Wharton.
As the summer transfer window approaches, United will need to move quickly to fend off competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
