Former Ipswich Town full-back Josh Emmanuel has joined National League promotion-chasers Halifax Town.

The 27-year-old was most recently at Doncaster Rovers in League Two, where he signed a short-term contract in September last year after he was released by Carlisle United at the end of last season.

But Emmanuel left Grant McCann's side last month after making only eight appearances during his spell at the Eco-Power Stadium.

He now joins Chris Millington's outfit and made his debut for the Shaymen last weekend, coming on as a substitute in their 1-0 home win over Yeovil Town.

They currently sit sixth in the fifth tier table, seven points clear in the play-off spots.

Emmanuel came through the youth ranks at Portman Road and played 29 games for Town, before leaving to join Bolton Wanderers in 2019.

He went on to have spells at Hull City and Grimsby Town.

At one point he didn't play football for over a year due to an illness, which he revealed was a clot that initially stunted his speech and meant he was unable to move the left side of his body.
