‘Enthusiastically Accepted’: Philadelphia Eagles Send Message To Donald Trump After 2018 Drama

The Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0 in Super Bowls when Donald Trump is President. The Eagles won a Super Bowl for the 2017 season. They knocked off the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in February’s Super Bowl.

One of the long-standing traditions for winning teams in the Super Bowl is getting to meet with the president at the White House. However, the Eagles chose not to attend the White House and meet with Trump in 2018 due to drama.

Former President Donald Trump makes a campaign appearance Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse Wisconsin., Wisconsin. The town hall format was hosted by former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.

Trump released a statement in June of 2018 stating why the Eagles were not celebrating their win in Super LII at the White House. He claimed the Eagles disagreed with him on the National Anthem.

“The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow,” Trump wrote. ” They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.

“These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony—one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem. I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus to celebrate America.”

On Monday, the Eagles had a different message after winning Super Bowl LIX.

Per Fox News, the Eagles “enthusiastically accepted” an invitation from the White House to meet with Trump.

“We sent the invite and they enthusiastically accepted. We are working with them to determine a date and logistics,” per Fox News Digital.

“A team spokesperson also confirmed to Fox News Digital that “the Philadelphia Eagles organization has accepted an invitation to visit the White House and is currently working on scheduling a date and logistics.”
