West Ham Striker Search: Hammers Revisit Familiar Target

Recent reports that **West Ham** have turned their [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) attentions to Tammy Abraham are as desperate as they are underwhelming.

The last time [_Claret & Hugh_](https://www.claretandhugh.info/category/news/) spoke to our top London Stadium insider about Abraham, we were told he was considered too injury-prone.

But looking at the way Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus toiled up front alone while Evan Ferguson once again sat on the bench, Abraham could be forgiven for showing no interest in West Ham at all.

The Hammers have paid a big loan fee for Ferguson, who 18 months ago was being hailed as an £80m player. Yet the Irons’ manager seems somewhat reluctant to start the striker, despite making the Irishman his number one transfer priority in January.

Fergie’s benching probably did the lad a favour, given the clumsy way in which West Ham’s uncreative midfield attempted to supply the attack. There is precious little to suggest that if the Hammers were to sign Abraham, Ferguson, Duran, David, or anyone else, they’d be able to provide them with goalscoring opportunities.

This West Ham team does not so much need surgery as a complete overhaul—without which no striker will succeed.
