Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has not had the best season under new manager Arne Slot. The 25-year-old has been in and out of the team and has struggled with proper game time this season.
Nunez was bought by Liverpool in the summer of 2022 from Benfica as a potential replacement for the outgoing Reds legend Roberto Firmino. Being touted as one of the most exciting forwards in Europe during his time at Benfica, the Uruguay international got the Liverpool fans excited when he made the switch to Anfield.
However, things have just not worked out for Nunez. The young striker has not yet proved to Liverpool manager Arne Slot why he should be the man leading the forward line. As per Sofascore, Nunez has scored just seven goals and provided five assists in 38 games in all competitions. His minutes has reduced significantly as well, playing just over 1800 minutes this season.
Darwin Nunez has failed to impress Arne Slot
With that being said, Nunez finally has had a string of good performances this week. The ex-Benfica striker provided a match-winning assist to Harvey Elliot against PSG in the first leg of the Champions League Last 16 on Wednesday.
Nunez then followed that performance up by earning a start against Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday and scoring a crucial goal to equalise the game before winning a decisive penalty that Mohamed Salah smashed home to take Liverpool 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Darwin Nunez wants an Anfield exit in the summer
It is no secret that Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool career has been inconsistent. The forward has just not grown into the world-class player he was touted to be. Arne Slot’s criticism towards the 25-year-old’s lack of effort in a recent game against Aston Villa has not helped Nunez as well.
Earlier last month, it was also reported by GIVEMESPORT that Liverpool’s recruitment team had their doubts about signing the Uruguay international. But it was Jurgen Klopp who initiated the move and signed the striker to replace Firmino.
Now Sky Switzerland are reporting that Darwin Nunez wants an exit from Anfield this summer as the striker has grown tired of the ‘gloomy’ weather at Merseyside. The Liverpool No.9 wants a move to a club that is ‘closer to his Latin culture.’

Sky Switzerland are also reporting that Liverpool will ask for at least £67million to let the striker leave. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and number of Saudi clubs are looking at the possibility to sign the 25-year-old in the summer.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have already started looking for replacements. The Reds are seriously considering signing Newcastle United star Alexander Isak or Brighton forward Joao Pedro to lead their attacking line, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
