The real story behind the supposed training-ground 'incident' involving Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold has come to light.

Liverpool supporters, eagerly anticipating their team's crucial Champions League last-16 second leg match against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield, had their attention momentarily diverted on Monday.

That was due to a video surfacing online showing Salah and Alexander-Arnold, both of whom could potentially leave Anfield this summer when their contracts expire, appearing to be in a heated discussion, with Alexander-Arnold seemingly unhappy.

The footage of their exchange was captured and shared online, as UEFA permits media outlets access to the first half-hour of a team's training session the day before a European match. Liverpool currently hold a 1-0 advantage over PSG, courtesy of a late victory in Paris last week. They will need Salah and Alexander-Arnold to be on top form to ensure their progression to the quarter-finals. However, Liverpool fans can breathe easy about any potential discord between the two players, as the true nature of the so-called incident has been disclosed, reports the Mirror.

According to the Liverpool Echo, who were present at the training session, the interaction between Salah and Alexander-Arnold was nothing more than friendly banter between two close team-mates. The pair were also spotted laughing and joking post-training, and both are expected to feature in Arne Slot's starting line-up against PSG.Salah, 32, has affectionately referred to himself as a 'big brother' figure to the club's vice-captain Alexander-Arnold, 26. The younger player reciprocated the sentiment, highlighting their close relationship and on-field chemistry.Speaking to Stadium Astro, Alexander-Arnold shared: "Just how long we've known each other and how long we've played together, our bond and connection, especially on the pitch.

"Even though we could so many times, we never moan at each other. We just know each other's style of play."

The duo will be looking to link up effectively during the match against the French champions. In his pre-match press conference, Slot stressed the importance of delivering their top game of the season."I do think so because this is the most complete team we've faced so far," he said, acknowledging the formidable challenge posed by the French giants.

"What I mean by complete and okay, we've faced Arsenal and [Manchester] City and it's not that there are big margins but the intensity they've played at combined with the quality they have... they have so much quality and a great, great, great manager."He lets the team play in a way that is not easy to play against his team; he brings the best out of every player and he brings an incredible work-rate into the team. That's why I think we have to be at our best tomorrow."Slot also reflected on past performances, noting the contrast between away and home games against Manchester City. He said: "But, for example, we didn't have ball possession at all at City away but at home we had a completely different performance against City than we did away."
