The Philadelphia Eagles are doing anything but standing pat after their impressive 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Instead, the Eagles are working to make sure the roster is ready to make a run at a title defense.
Shockingly, the Eagles have decided that the best way to proceed is parting ways with one of the cornerstones of the franchise the last couple of seasons, according to one prominent NFL insider.
“Trade! The#Eagles are sending standout S CJ Gardner-Johnson to the#Texans for first-round G Kenyon Green, per me and (Mike Garafolo). It’s a Green and a 2026 5th for CJGJ and a 2026 6th. Another intriguing piece to the Houston back end, while Philly adds OL depth,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.
Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Maybe the first domino to fall we didn’t see coming w CJGJ. Unanticipated hole in secondary. Green the next reclamation project at Stoutland U??” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Whoa, big move! CJ Gardner-Johnson to the Texans and Kenyon Green to the Eagles, love seeing these teams shake things up. Excited to see how this plays out on the field!” added someone else.
“Wow! Assuming this means Becton wont be back. Also, Philly now looking very thin in the secondary!” one fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Eagles replace Gardner-Johnson’s production.
