Arsenal won’t face competition bringing player back to Premier League – Club rule him out

Arsenal will not face competition from Flamengo if they wish to sign Roberto Firmino and bring him back to the Premier League this summer.

That’s [according to journalist Jorge Nicola](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lATr6A8qNZw), who reports that Flamengo have no interest in signing the former Liverpool star.

Firmino is currently playing for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League but has found himself increasingly out of the picture at the club this season.

Indeed, he has now been removed from the squad until the end of the season, with him not eligible to play until the 30th of June 2025 and likely to depart after that point.

He has been linked with a potential move back to the Premier League, with Arsenal named as a potential destination after his wife publically declared her intention is to return to England.

Reports over the weekend then linked him with a potential return to Brazil, naming Flamengo as a possible destination and getting their fans excited.

They could have provided competition for Arsenal, who may also be in the mix as they desperately need a striker, but Nicola has good news for the Gunners on that front.

“Halfway through the year, Firmino’s wife had already declared her intention to return to England and one of the alternatives would be Arsenal,” he said.

“Well, I spoke to José Boto, FLA’s executive director of football, before recording this video and asked if there was any chance of negotiation between Flamengo and Firmino and the answer was…Zero chance.

“Boto’s answer concerns the type of players that Flamengo is looking for at the moment. The Rubro Negro wants to have players who can be signed, who increase in value and who can then be sold. This is not exactly the case with Roberto Firmino. Let’s cross that name off the Rubro Negro map, okay?”
