Rick Carlisle calls out Bennedict Mathurin for lack of consistency

Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle called out young guard Bennedict Mathurin for his inconsistency and frequent arguing with officials.

Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle didn’t hold back after Monday's game, calling out young guard Bennedict Mathurin for his inconsistent play and distracting behavior, per Alex Golden.

Carlisle pointed out the challenges of Mathurin’s performance, noting that he’ll have a strong game followed by one where his contributions are lacking.

"A lot of points in one game and not a lot the next," said Carlisle. "It’s not all about points. I talked to him about stuff after the game that went on."

One major issue that Carlisle raised was Mathurin's ongoing communication with officials during games.

"The stuff with officials and him constantly talking with officials has gotta stop. It creates a distraction for him and our team," he stated. "We need him very badly right now. We need all our guys to be undistracted."

This season, Mathurin averages 16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 47.1% from the field.

Pacers are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 35-28. Their next game is against the Milwaukee Bucks on March 12th.
