Player disappointing since January Wolves exit – Now being sent to the bench

During the last transfer window, Mario Lemina signed for Galatasaray from Wolverhampton Wanderers following his difficulties with the Premier League side.

The central midfielder had his struggles, especially under former manager Gary O’Neil and he subsequently joined the Istanbul side before the transfer deadline.

A return to his former club was meant to kick start his career, but the 31-year-old has struggled to make a real impact since his arrival in Istanbul.

The Turkish media outlet highlight that the Turkish league leaders have had issues in attack since Lemina was brought into the team and that him playing alongside Gabriel Sara and Lucas Torreria in central midfield hasn’t yet brought the desired team performances.

Despite victory over Alanyaspor at the weekend, it’s reported Lemina is expected to be demoted to the bench when they play the same the team in Istanbul on Friday. Gala manager Okan Buruk is said to be concerned with the Gabon international’s contribution in the last game and is ready to take him out of his starting eleven.

Following his problems at Wolves, a transfer to Turkey was meant to provide a fresh start for Lemina, so he’ll need to turn things around quickly.
