There is a lot to look forward to for Celtic fans next season.

One of the big things everyone is eager to see is the return of Kieran Tierney when his Arsenal contract expires in the summer.

Tierney left his boyhood club Celtic and joined the Gunners in 2019, but in recent times, his game time has reduced and he has become a squad player under Mikel Arteta.

But that hasn’t stopped how the Scotland international is viewed because he is still regarded highly by the Arsenal fans.

The 27-year-old is a fan favourite and seen as a cult hero, even though he has played only 181 minutes of football this season and he was on-loan at Real Sociedad the campaign before.

One of the reasons for that is because of the way Tierney presents himself, including wearing short sleeves in training, regardless of the weather.

But what is the reason Tierney does that? All has been explained.

But it shouldn’t be a surprise to hear that Celtic legend Scott Brown is the reason why Tierney wears short sleeves.

That was confirmed by former manager Gordon Strachan, who was lauding Brown as a captain, and how much influence he had as a player, as he told Football’s Greatest in 2024.

“Scott Brown does everything by example,” said Strachan. “I even watched Kieran Tierney training with a t-shirt in the winter and things like that.

“It has come from Scott Brown. That was him saying ‘nothing bothers me’.”

Tierney’s game time at Arsenal ahead of Celtic move

One of the things that has been slapped in Tierney’s face is that he is injury prone, but that can’t be thrown at him this season.

Not only did he play 1,500 minutes last season, but since coming back from injury in December, he has warmed the bench more than being on the pitch, despite being available.

For whatever reason, Arteta doesn’t fancy Tierney, even though he hasn’t done much wrong and looked pretty good every time he comes onto the pitch.

But what is going to be Arsenal’s loss will be Celtic’s gain next season.
